And today we are going to talk about the frequency of belief what a surprise and applying this philosophy during life's transitions because by the time you're listening to this and this publishes we will have just welcomed our child no. 2 into the world and so we are going through a lot of pretty major transitions ourselves if you are new to the show and this is the first episode you're listening to we are really building our lives around the frequency of belief and the way that I define that is to decide what you want act on it and believe relentlessly that it will be yours and I wanna talk about it today and how it applies during life's transitions and uncertainty because it's such an anchoring belief and it creates stability in my life especially during a time like pregnancy where your body is changing you don't know what life is gonna look like after your baby is born and your routine is so different and you feel elated to have this baby but you also feel exhausted because your body has just been through a Marathon and I think that the frequency of belief for me is such a foundational thing to return to over and over and over when life feels crazy it's like our faith it's one of those anchor points that I can go back to and remind myself why I'm doing what I'm doing why I believe what I believe and why that's so important so let's talk a little bit about what's shifting for us in the next few months you know we have beckon off the ground you're doing the commercial side of things we've we wanna do residential projects again but you know the market just hasn't been it hasn't been fruitful in that respect for the last 9 months and so we've put a pause on that we are doing well in the design aspect of our business and expanding those offerings I just was with a rep yesterday and we're gonna wholesale furniture and maybe even have our own online store where we can stock different bespoke items

Mm hmm.

We also have TheFreqApp you know and we've talked about it on this podcast and it is done and it is available but we haven't really been able to market it yet because we have been so for lack of a better term in the weeds with our business working on expanding it and growing it and then in our off time we just want to spend time with each other and our son and as we are and I'll speak for myself but as I am preparing to give birth and welcome a new child into this world I am feeling a little overwhelmed at the amount of work that I would like to accomplish before that baby arrives in a little over a month though when you're listening to this the baby will already be here I wanna finish my book which I'm 100 pages in my goal is to get to 130 pages and I think I can definitely do that I wanna finish my current client project and then I wanna sign a new client which I already sent out the paperwork for that and then I wanna make sure my other client's ADU is in a good spot to where I can step away from it for a while and not delay the project and then of course baby prep around here I wanna continue working out and making beautiful meals and blah blah blah I want to TheFreqApp team has several questions for me that I haven't been able to answer over the last couple of weeks because we have just had so much going on I mean Sam can attest in the time that we've been podcasting today I've probably gotten 5 calls 6 calls text messages emails and it's all good stuff it's just a lot and so as we are in this transition period where I don't know exactly what my life is going to look like a little over a month from now and what our routine will be because there's going to be such massive change returning to this philosophy of the frequency of belief brings peace and I think well do you have anything to add to that.

I mean other than I you mentioned previously that returning to the frequency of belief is like much like a our spiritual beliefs and I mean I think that they're one and the same and so I think that it's as much as we can not have to return to something and I know that's just semantics for what you're saying here but as opposed to returning to something just staying in that and having that be part of the daily routine to where you put yourself in that mindset you know you pray every day you meditate every day and take that time.

Jaclyn
And visualize.

Sam
Yeah to stay there versus having to return to it.

Jaclyn
I think you know that I'm you spurred a thought in me as you were talking and it's this. To integrate the frequency of belief into your everyday life is such an incredible advantage in that it reflects how you see yourself and in times of uncertainty like what a woman goes through during pregnancy and postpartum to reflect on your self image is so huge to define who you believe yourself to be you know just because your body has changed and you may feel a little insecure in the mirror does not mean that it's okay to speak to yourself negatively you can still create a self image that says I am strong I am in shape I'm capable look at what my body just created and tie that into the whole ethos of the frequency of belief and I'm trying to articulate this in a way that I can like synthesize easily but what we believe about ourselves dictates the trajectory of our life in so many ways so if you believe you're always going to struggle with money you're always going to struggle with money if you believe that being a mother is going to be the most difficult thing you've ever experienced it's gonna be the most difficult thing you've ever experienced if you believe that being a mother is going to be the most delightful incredible experience and yes there will be tough times then that's what's going to happen our thoughts and the way we speak to ourselves dictates our lives and it creates our reality and so going back to the ethos of the frequency of belief is deciding what you want acting on it and believing relentlessly that it's gonna be yours we have so much power in what we think and in life's transitions when things are uncertain we can go back I say return but you say it's part of the everyday I agree but sometimes when you feel like you're in like emergency mode or things are so uncertain that you feel out of control going back to the way you're speaking to yourself and being aware of your thoughts changes everything so even in moments that are scary you can say I'm safe right now I have everything I need in this moment I don't know what it's what's gonna happen next but I do expect it to be awesome and allow yourself to live out of that place versus a place of fear and doubt or guilt or shame or any of those things I think it's easy to get down on ourselves in times of uncertainty or in life's transitions cause we feel like we should know better or we should have more control etcetera etcetera but again going back to this ethos of the frequency of belief is that we it is our responsibility we are the only ones who have ownership over our minds and our energy and so to be able to control that and use our thoughts to support us rather than tear us down I think it's a very different perspective than so many people experience in times of transition and times of uncertainty does that make sense?

Sam
Yeah I mean I think it's a muscle you have to build and it's a habit.

Jaclyn
Mm hmm.

Sam
And so that's why I said and and I look I get it like I know that we lose ourselves at times like we get out of routine and there's so much going on that we feel chaotic and hectic and we back into the garage door like I did the other day you know that I understand like that we get overwhelmed but the more that we make these things routine the quicker we come back and the other element that I would add on to the ethos is at the end surrendering because.

Jaclyn
We don't have control over everything.

Sam
Yeah you believe relentlessly but in my opinion part of believing relentlessly is..

Jaclyn
Trusting.

Sam
Surrendering it and not feeling like not feeling like I've got to like pull it in every second of the day and I've got to be calling it in every second of the day I think that often is gonna be short lived because I've done that like I've there been periods.

Jaclyn
You try to wrangle things.

Sam
There been periods where I've been like I believe this is gonna happen I believe it! I believe it! I believe it! I believe it! like just focus on that and that's not all bad but I think that it's short lived because it's just not sustainable.

Jaclyn
Well I think from that definitely it's not.

Sam
Well let me finish my point it's not sustainable because and and I also think that it is a sign that you don't really believe it you know.

Jaclyn
Totally!

Sam
Because you're trying to you're trying to continually reinforce that thought.

Jaclyn
Wrangle it.

Sam
In your mind but when you truly believe it and when you you know give it to God and pray about it and surrender it and trusting in God versus trusting in your own strength your own power and capability.

Jaclyn
During life's big pivots.

Sam
And let it go that's when you can actually go from belief to faith

Jaclyn
Mm hmm I couldn't agree more yeah and when I say believe relentlessly it's exactly what I'm saying is no matter what happens no matter what pivot you experience no matter what obstacle you experience you go Hey I don't know what's gonna happen next but I trust it's all happening for me and in my favor and in the direction of the life that I am calling in.

Sam
Yeah so when something happens unexpectedly or not as to plan it doesn't derail you yeah.

Jaclyn
And I'm thinking about you know time postpartum and how much I'm looking forward to just being focused on my son but also how as a business owner that can feel like whoa I'm hitting a big lull in my business is everything gonna be okay if I'm not in it all day every day and the frequency of belief is a perfect thing to insert there to say Hey this is where I want to be going this is what I've been working toward and just because I'm taking a break for a little bit doesn't mean it's all gonna fall apart I'm trusting that when I return the timing will be good and the opportunities will be there and I can stay in a place of faith rather than a place of worry does that make sense.

Sam
Mm hmm.

Jaclyn
So let's talk about what happens when you waver from the frequency of belief when you have moments of doubt or exhaustion it's easy to be tempted to retreat to feel like you need to play small to feel like you need to start over even sometimes to feel like hey maybe I'm not in the right occupation I need to do something else but having that touch point to return to every single day like the frequency of belief to remind you of who you are and why you're doing what you're doing and what you're working toward is very grounding faith is also very grounding having faith in something bigger than us having community and people to remind you of who you are I have a friend and every once in a while she'll say oh I'm having a tough day I just need to be reminded of who I am and I relate to that I think we all need that sometimes recentering rituals whether that be a morning routine or an evening routine or just doing some breath work during the day or a cold shower you've been walking every morning and doing a workout at 6 every morning and I'm sure that's extremely grounding for you for me what makes me feel grounded is spending time with you and Roman it's just recalibrates me.

Sam
Mm hmm.

Jaclyn

Alright let's talk about reframing transitions as sacred you know sometimes we want things to happen in our timeline but God has a different timeline and so allowing life's transitions like the time I'm gonna take postpartum to be a holy and sacred moment where I allow God to refine me and be open to what's next versus me trying to wrangle or trying to figure out what I have to do next and allowing that worry and fear to grip me and take me out of being present with our baby is not a good thing and so I think there's always an opportunity to reframe transitions as a time where God is refining us.

Sam
Yeah and I think that it's you know we don't place enough importance on being still and I'm trying to recall what I heard this morning somebody say but they were talking about they were talking about rest and how God rested and reflected on his work and that we devalue the space that God gives us in order to do that to take that time and we devalue the power that's in that because we think that we have to be we have to be.

Jaclyn
Productive.

Sam
Producing and creating whereas that the time for rest and the time for transition and just being still is productive time and sometimes the most productive time so.

Jaclyn
Oh I would agree.

Sam
Rewiring the perspective of the value around it not as a time lost but as so much.

Jaclyn
Momentum gained.

Sam
Yeah.

Jaclyn
Mm hmm I couldn't agree with you more you know we don't need to let the unknown refine or define us we can let it refine us and it's okay too if belief looks quiet we don't always have to be shouting it from the mountain tops you know our faith can be something that is just so deeply rooted that in times of transition it emanates from us we don't even have to like make a big deal out of it you know what I'm saying so your belief can be quiet and you can just trust that even in these times of transition or uncertainty or feeling out of control there is a force bigger than us making moves and creating opportunities and using that time for good.

Sam
Yeah and that goes back to the surrendering and believing relentlessly that when stuff happens that's unexpected that that happened intentionally.

Jaclyn
It happened for us not to us yeah and the note that I have here is the frequency of belief isn't just a concept it's a way of being it's trusting like Sam just said that everything is happening for us not to us and that is a very pivotal perspective change alright so as we close up this episode I would say to everyone listening whether you are just killing it in your career right now or you are going through a period of transition trust the process and it's okay to have an open hand and what I mean by that is have that goal in the center that dream in the center I just read somewhere and it was such a brilliant quote it was like a dream isn't anything without a goal attached to it and that's true so have that in the center but allow the hand to be open for new opportunities for new ways of viewing it for new ways of getting to that destination there's so much good that can happen if we remain open to how we're going to get there and then I would encourage you too to remind yourself daily who you are even if you haven't become that person yet remind yourself of who you are becoming and the type of the ways that you interact with others the way that you speak to yourself the way that you interact with yourself the way you treat yourself I think when we continually remind ourselves of who we are at our root it's a lot easier to handle uncertainty it's a lot easier to handle that feeling of being out of control. Would you agree?

Sam
Yeah and I think it's important in those moments to where the the feeling is everything opposite but to give thanks in those moments that are unclear or that are uncertain or we're in doubt giving thanks in those moments is so powerful because it's like a it's like an equalizer you know it's kind of like if I can give thanks when something didn't go the way I wanted it to go or it's not panning out the way that I thought it was going to it just it's has that grounding effect like you were talking about and I think you're like okay I'm thankful that this happened and it must be for a purpose I'm supposed to be learning something in it and creating making me who I am supposed to be.

Jaclyn
And there's no faster way to shift your frequency higher than with gratitude.

Sam
Right!

Jaclyn
No faster way so the challenge for you today as we wrap up is to ask yourself can you pick one action today that aligns with belief versus fear and then also where in your life are you being called to trust more deeply I think for me just to give an example is to trust that that time I'm taking off postpartum is going to be restful and rejuvenating and that I'm not gonna feel like oh my gosh I have all these projects to tend to I'm so behind you know what I mean are there any areas that you wanna add where you can trust more deeply.

Sam
Yeah I mean I think that's been especially of late just trusting in general try putting everything I'm not I'm not verbalizing this very clearly but I think I am putting a huge focus on every morning taking time to talk to God honestly lay everything out on the table and just surrender it and trust you know whatever that is so.

Jaclyn
I did the same thing this morning in my journal same thing and it provides such a sense of peace so if you take nothing else from this episode other than to surrender your thoughts your fears your doubts your excitement it makes such a huge difference.

Sam
Mm hmm.

Jaclyn
Right?

Sam
Yeah I was gonna add like also the doubt, the guilt, the shame, whatever your perceived shortcomings not only surrendering what you want but also surrendering what holds you back.

Jaclyn
Oh! Sam, yes! I think that's something I need to work on.

Sam
We all do.

Jaclyn
